July 12, 2015 – Drive from Utrecht NL, to Ypres, Belgium.
Our first scenic stop is Kasteel Bouvigne for a quick photo then off to some Trappist beer at Westmalle Abbey where the beer is brewed and Café Trappisten where it is served. Farther south in the town of Sint-Niklaas in Belgium is located the De Witte Molen (The White Windmill). Our next stop was in the village of Beauvoorde, Belgium to see Castle Beauvoorde and the metal dogs just outside the gates. Time for another Trappist beer and this time we stopped at Brouwerij de Sint-Sixtusabdij van Westvleteren, for some of the worlds most sought after beers. Unfortunately the beer did not live up to the extreme hype. Our stop for the night, Ypres Belgium was the sight of much devastation during WW1.
