After spending a few hours at the Auto Museum we motored back up to Lake Garda and stopped in for lunch at Gem’s Brew Pub for… pizza and beer. The style of the beer was German with an emphasis on wheat beer – not surprising as Lake Garda is most popular with German and Austrian tourists. Our next meal was 1km way up the hill to Trattoria agli Olivi our favorite place this trip. We drove Sharon and Derek to the airport via a toxic smoke filled tunnel, then we set off to explore the small Lago di Endine and slightly larger Lago d’Iseo, both west of Lake Garda. Birrificio Valcavallina is located on the on the shores of Lago di Endine in what looks like an abandoned building. Around the back hardly marked at all is a nice little beer making section and small tap/tasting area. After some tastes and purchasing a few bottles of beer we continued driving around the lake making sure to park on a hill as the Sud’s starter was now starting to work only occasionally.

Our destination this day was Castel Beseno with a first stop for lunch at Ristorante Pizzeria Bar Rosspach that included beautiful views of the valley below. Upon entering the gates of the castle we were stopped by the guards who told us Nico was not permitted but it was OK to carry him inside. Seeing he was too heavy the guard relented and allowed us entry since in Itay, rules are really only suggestions.
