Northern Italy has three major lakes; Lago Maggiore, Lake Como, and Lake Garda. We were told that Lake Garda the least touristy but at this time of year (August) everyone in Europe is on Vacation so the area is loaded with tourists. Lake Garda differs from the two other lakes in mostly in geography. It’s surrounded by a massive mountain range and gives the impression that you are in the base of a deep bowl. The area is best known for its production of olives and lemons.
