Alfa Romeo Centennial Planning – Balocco

June 23-25 2009

Alfa Romeo Incorporated (ARI)  contacted Alfa Romeo Owners Clubs (AROC) around the world to seek help planning the upcoming 100th anniversary celebration in 2010. They wanted to have a world-wide centennial celebration based in Milan and invited representatives from all of the clubs for guidance. AROC-USA board members did not seem to have any interest in attending so Vic and Gail Cerami and I jumped at the opportunity to fill the void left by the US AROC representatives.  We were treated like royalty by our beloved Marque and given a rare glimpse behind the curtain of Alfa Romeo.  The gathering also afforded us to meet other Alfisti from across the globe.  The trip started in Milan with some typical tourists sights then events began in earnest at the Circuito di Balocco road-testing track owned by Alfa Romeo. Here we viewed and enjoyed drives in some rare Autodelta race cars as they were driven around the circuit. A wonderful lunch was served then meetings were held to find out what club members wanted to see at the centennial.
