Calcata Vecchia and the Eternal City: Rome.

August 10th – 12th 2013

A visit to the town of Calcata, Italy, located about an hour outside of Rome, reveals a strange mix of medieval ghost town and hippie commune. In addition to its picturesque setting and eccentric population. In 1930 the Italian government, worried about earthquakes,  condemned the village and relocate residents to Calcata Nouvo half a mile away. By the 1960s an entirely new set of residents had begun to trickle in, this time of a strictly artistic bent.  Next; a visit to ROME and its ruins and famous tourists sights.
