Rambling in Elizabeth Colorado

A small sample of some of the bizarre art Denver airport welcomed us to Colorado. A demonic figure sits inside an article of luggage, or as I was informed by a woman at the info kiosk “its a gargoyle, not a demon”.

A shuttle bus dropped us of at the chaotic car rental center and specifically Dollar rental – where haggard travelers informed us of enormous wait times at other rental centers. Suddenly an employee shouted “if you don’t have a reservation – we have NO cars”. As we stood on line watching the employees behind the counter wondering why they were not helping anyone they responded that we must use the electronic kiosk to talk to an agent to pick up our car. Is this the future of commerce?

Eventually we were on the road heading South east away from Denver toward the open country to the town of Elizabeth Colorado where the “Rambler Ranch” sits on 15 acres of scrub and trees. We where met by owner Terry Gale and he showed us with glee, his private collection of Nash, Rambler and AMC cars. His auto collection also seems to have drifted a bit into the world of kitchen appliances!?

The museum is quite amazing even if you are not a fan of the odd marque. The 90 minute visit that could have lasted hours if Terry had is way.

The rest of the evening was spent exploring some of the Boulder area.
